This training will provide participants with tools and techniques to use IPA more effectively in their psychotherapy practices.

In the training we provide in IPA, we have been guiding trainees on a journey towards becoming highly effective psychotherapists. We started our journey by punctuating our approach as interactional, which means that we base our observations, formulations, and interventions on tangible, observable, and describable communication in the relational field. In IPA Level I, we focused remaining interactional in our observations in that we referred only to observable behaviour, and not to intrapsychic projections and hypotheses. In Level I, we also focused on remaining interactional in our formulations, in formulating accurate IPA’s. In IPA Level II, we looked at the application of the IPA for interventions. We looked at how the interactional psychotherapist positions themselves for effective therapeutic change and how the IPA can be used to design systematic strategic treatment plans. In IPA Level III, we will be looking at specific strategies that can be used as tools in these treatment plans.
